I’m absolutely thrilled and humbled to announce that Fossil Echo has been nominated twice in the G.A.N.G. awards, for “Best Interactive Score” and “Best Audio for an Indie Game”!
I’m absolutely floored by the nomination, and Gordon, Em, and I couldn’t be more proud to be considered alongside so many other incredibly well-crafted, beautiful works of sonic art on the nominees list.
For my part, Fossil Echo’s score is a real labor of love for me, and seeing it get recognized by my colleagues and friends has been absolutely amazing.

It reduces the number of enemies the player will encounter and makes the stealth opportunities a little easier to take advantage of, keeping the feel, the world, and story intact, but easing the difficulty a bit. Perfect for those wanting to enjoy the world without stressing about the encounters. In addition, we’ve tightened up bugs, improved performance, and made a few other improvements.

Randy Yasenchak‘s fantastic series “25 Games for my Son” continues, this time focusing on the groundbreaking “Bioshock”!
Like last time, we’ve put together a fantastic collection of remixes of the original soundtrack and it’s outstanding score by my friend and colleague Garry Schyman.
The remix album consists of 16 fantastic tracks, and is now out on Loudr, with iTunes/Spotify/Amazon to follow!
Here’s my contribution to the album, featuring Daniel Romberger on Trombone and Andrew Kroepel on Tuba:
When I decided to rearrange “Busted Sub”, two things were immediately apparent. One was that the piece felt like a fragment, an interrupted statement of a much longer work, and the second was that there was something mournful, almost funereal about it that I wanted to dig further into. Being a trumpet player who dabbles in French horn, the brass quintet seemed like an obvious choice of setting, a chamber ensemble not unlike the strings of the original, while at the same time something about the metallic nature of the instruments lent itself more to the idea of a city, creaking and groaning beneath the sea. Eschewing trumpets for the darker flugelhorn, and teaming up with the excellent Daniel Romberger and Andrew Kroepel to provide trombone and tuba respectively, the only thing left to do was to incorporate a bit of sound design to conjure the idea of the crushing depths whilst tipping the proverbial hat to the original cue by my esteemed friend and colleague Garry Schyman.
Today, I’m incredibly proud to finally announce that Fossil Echo is going to be part of the incredibly prestigious PAX 10 indie game showcase. The team will be there during the September 2nd-5th convention in downtown Seattle, so come by our booth and play the game!

Right about now we’re closing into the final hours of Fossil Echo‘s pre-order campaign. A 2D platformer with stunning hand-drawn graphics, a world influenced by Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, and Ghibli films, a wordless story told both through environmental storytelling and lush, fully animated cutscenes, and old-school gameplay with hints of Oddworld and Prince of Persia.
The game is available for $15 for the base game and $20 for the Special Edition, but during the pre-order you get the Special Edition for the price of the base game, $15.
